Plog Number 175
A Bicycle built for Who?

Hello Ploggers, how are you. My idea of a great Saturday evening is to be at home by 9pm. I like to have most of my chores done for the day, sitting with my daughter and theš± cats, watching š TV and typing out my thoughts on my laptop. I am grateful to have a š home to come back to at the end of the day. To me it is a sanctuary and my whole š¦ woman cave.
Last week I had my second TikTok war. Yes I said war. At the least it was a pretty big battle. It all started over a true story about a rentalš“ bike in New York City. I wont go into the whole story but I will speak about some of the takeaway.
First of all, you have no idea who is reading your content. The feedback you get will come from supporters and detractors. Some people ā¤ļølove your videos, others think you are full of š© poop. Most people donāt bother to leave a message. Others do. I had gotten a lot of negative comments such as ādo some researchā and āblack people always play the victimsā and āshe is going to sue you for saying horrible things about herā and so forth. People were all too ready to crucify me over what they perceived as a mistake on my part. This perceived mistake fueled them to miss the entire point that I was talking about. It seemed like they were quick to find fault with me and try to call me a racist. I think worst of all was the idea that I did not do my research. What??? Research š is what I do. I donāt dare start a Plog or a video based on my own understanding. That would be asking for trouble.
But I survived the fight and was able to further make my point. I have no idea if viewers were listening or just waiting to call me out on a technicality. But one thing for sure, you end up with more followers when you have a TikTok war. I guess itās like what public people say ābad publicity is better than no publicityā. Or āitās better to be talked about than not thought about at allā. It is a weird position to be in, but I guess I am learning how to work it. I am just happy to have a forum to call out racism in its many forms. Sometimes it takes some convincing, because people genuinely donāt want to see certain things as racist. I am hoping to increase difficult racial conversations and make aš£ dent in our racial relations. It seems like a good goal to me and worth a few personal jabs. My skin gets thicker by the day. RECLAIM!
