An Elephant in the Room
Hello Ploggers, Hoping that you are all well. I have been plogging away but publishing a little less. I am never far away and always thinking about RECLAIM in some way or another. I am hoping to help women stay fired up in order to have an amazing turn out in November. If the issue is on our ballots I feel that we will vote like Kansas did. If it isn’t on the ballot we have some work to do. Many politicians are sitting by idly in acquiescence to the horrible Dobbs case. But one House Member from Indiana has echoed some of my thoughts in his speeches. In a past plog I advocated for child support and a child tax exemption to start at conception. It was the same plog where I kvetched about all of the male enhancement ads. I believe I used a graphic of Muscle Man from Regular Show. Well State Representative John L. Bartlett responded to Indiana’s law banning abortion. He compared the concept that if pregnancy is an act of God, so is Impotence. He actually asked for an amendment that would outlaw erectile dysfunction drugs. He said that if women are to bear all the responsibility that men should be more responsible in making these pregnancies. After all it takes two to tango. Why should men be encouraged to Pump Up and Enjoy themselves sexually while women are told to either keep their legs closed or have a forced birth. Oddly enough Indiana’s law requires a 10 week ban with some exceptions. Their law is better than Ohio’s which only allows for 6 weeks and no exceptions for rape or incest. I need to look up Mr. Bartlett and send him my Plogs since he and I share some of the same sentiments. His amendment was voted down. In fact his opposition didn’t even want to discuss it for fear of getting into trouble. This was Kelly McNamara Rep. I say discuss it Kelly. Things have to get real and graphic. We can discuss, vaginas, uteri, peni and feti. Let's get Jiggy with it. It is all relevant. People seem to have no problem talking about a woman’s body but are more reserved and respectful of a man’s member. Ha to that.
Senator Tim Scott (Rep) from South Carolina. Scott is also talking about abortion. Scott is a black male Republican who apparently flunked health class and made ignorant and inaccurate statements. He has said that the Democrats want abortion up to 52 weeks. What…SMH!! Scott was begging for $5 fundraising and painting Democrats as power hungry zealots who will take over everything. His appeal included some truths about Republicans never being able to win again if certain things happened. That seems to me to be a poor position to be bargaining from. Imagine asking for something and saying “things are bad and will never be good again unless you do the following…” It gives up the prospect of fighting for what is right and just admitting defeat without the $5 donation. Pathetic. Anyways, what is worse than his plea is the fact that he is completely ignorant about human pregnancy. 52 weeks is a full year Tim. Do you have any children Tim? Have you ever known anyone to be pregnant for 52 week Tim? Maybe he was talking about Elephants. Republicans are fond of them right, it is their symbol. Elephants gestate from 18-22 months. If he does not know how long women gestate he has NO business in offering an opinion of the topic. Tim you prove the point that politicians don’t belong in this fight. Please stop talking about it. Talk about something you know.
