And what about Liz Cheney...

Plog number 15

Hello everyone. I hope that all are well. As I watch the January 16th hearings I think some of the same thoughts over and over. One particular thought is Please throw out some smoking guns so we can do this thing. Another thing I think is how impressed I am by Liz Cheney. She and I are certainly politically opposite. She has supported and voted for 45 many times in the past. Her Father came off as a cold, driven schemer and I am pretty sure she learned at his feet. I remember her having a sister who came out at gay a while ago. I don’t know her views on LGBT but I am assuming that she loves and supports her sister and other LGBT members. Liz Cheney is as blonde as they come. Almost like Marylyn Monroe’s shade of blonde. Her face is serious, calm and her manner of speaking is methodical. I love the way she looks over the top of her glasses and comes just shy of rolling her eyes. Her facial expression says “did you hear that?” She has openly said that the Republican Party cannot survive if it continues to be under the control of 45. She says things on the record that few Republicans will ever say out loud. I really wonder what other Republicans truly think about 45. Are they waiting for him to go to jail or do they support him? Are they afraid to step one toe over the line and be publically black balled by him or do they truly believe The Big Lie? We may never know. They will not tip their hands.

One politician comes to mind when I think about the true feelings of Republican elected officials. Mo Brooks is a Republican House Member from Alabama. He attended the January 6 rally. At that time, he and 45 were friends. Brooks even said something like “we have to start taking down names and kicking ass”. And let’s go to the Capitol and “Fight like hell”. Incendiary speech if I ever heard it. He said these things while wearing a bullet proof vests under an ugly yellow jacket. He looked like he was ready for a day of camping or fishing. Brooks is on the House Freedom Caucus. His term will end January 3, 2023. He has been in current position since January 3, 2011. He has been representing the State of Alabama for 11 years and that seems long enough. But the hysterical thing to me is that 45 got mad at Brooks and supported his opponent and he lost his primary this June. Evidently now Brooks is mad and wants to talk. Mo Brooks is a scorned and pissed off man. Now his true feelings about 45 are likely to come out. I am ready for Liz to come and question him with impunity.

But back to Liz. I think that the reason I like her is that I see her as a very strong woman. She has stepped away from her party and has been ostracized because of it. She does her job thoroughly and leaves no points unsaid. She is intent on getting to the truth and exposing 45 and his helpers. She refers to her notes and asks the right questions. She appears to know the truth and has a plan to deliver it. She is a trained attorney. Over the years I have seen many attorneys practice. I see Cheney as a great foundation builder and litigator. Getting a witness to say what you want is no easy trick. The Rules of Evidence limit you a lot. You cannot lead your own witness. You cannot testify. You cannot ask the same question twice and on and on. In an adversarial proceeding you will draw objections. Even when the objections are overruled, they throw you off and you have to recoup your thoughts. So my hat is still off to Liz Cheney even though I would never be able to support her politically. But the purpose of my Plog is to support women. I do give credit where it is due and Cheney is doing a good job. Her work may be part of the undoing of 45. To that I say Go Liz.
