Plog Number 127
Black Inventors Genius

Hello Ploggers, how are you. I have just filmed Part 1 of my TikTok on black inventors that are little known to most of us. I see all kinds of people doing these type of videos all year around. I feel especially moved to join the trend in the face of so many who are trying to quiet us from even talking about our accomplishments. I 👀 wonder how many things were invented by black people but credit was not given. Henry Ford and the combustion 🚗 car engine come to mind. But that is for another Plog.
The first invention I plogged about was the 🎸 guitar. The Euphonic guitar was invented by Robert Flemming Jr. He obtained an American patent in 1886. He also obtained a Canadian patent. He was also a Civil War sailor and hero. He was on a Union🚢 ship, the Housatonic. This ship was the first to be sunk by an enemy ship in combat by a submarine. He lived from 1839 to 1919. He was born in Maryland and died in Maine. Imagine a world without guitars. That would suck. How many people have made beautiful 🎶 music and careers using the guitar. He lived to be almost 80 years old Bravo!
The second invention I plogged about was the hot 💇 comb. The hot comb was invented by Madame C J Walker in 1905. Walker was a philanthropist, an entrepreneur, a political and social activist. She met W.E.B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington. She became the first black self made female 💰 millionaire. She was born in Delta, Louisiana and died in Irvington New York. She lived to be 52 years old. Many curly haired people owe their coifs to this invention. Bravo!
The third invention is the Potato Chip. Chips were invented by an Upstate New York cook named George Crum/Speck. He was a member of the Mohawk people. He worked in a restaurant called Moon’s Lake House on Saratoga Lake. In 1853 he was servicing a choosy customer who wanted thinner and thinner potato 🍞 🥖 wedges. Crum sliced them thinner and thinner until they became potato chips. Voila! I am not sure if he patented his potatoes or not, but he certainly started a sensation. Yum and Bravo to this very inventive black man.
