Congress and the Budget?!?
Hello Ploggers, how are you? As the year ends I am seeing👀 some things that are unheard of in my lifetime. Today (Dec, 21) was winter❄️ solstice and the shortest day of the year. From here on out the days will get longer. We took a little road trip to Stow to see friends and share a little Christmas cheer. It was super fun. One thing that was remarkable about it was the fact that the weather was way worse down there than up here near the lake. Big flakes❄️ of snow were falling and the windshield wipers were working poorly. Luckily the brakes and engine were sound. Thankful to be home and safe in the snow belt. That was total opposite world. So politically things are opposite too. Let’s get into it.
Last week we knew that President Musk and 45 sent out the word to tank a Bipartisan Congressional bill. The reason given was that it would be too much of a win for Democrats. A very petty reason at best. Mike Johnson and Republicans were told in a tweet not to vote in favor of the bill. And he added that if they did vote for it that he would “primary” them causing them to lose their office in the next election. The bill had specifications in it that came from Smoking Joe Biden and it was over 1,500 pages long. The original bill contained funding for Disaster💨 relief services, relief for🚜 farmers, and funding for cancer research for kids. It was a good bill and would have allowed the house to balance the budget and avoid a government shutdown. Further Musk wanted the shut-down to last until 45 takes office on January 20, 2025. In that case Government workers and activities would be tabled for three weeks over the holidays. President Musk and VP Trump were in union over this looming and dooming shut down. The American workers including TSA, Postal📮 workers, ATC’s Park Rangers, Veterans benefit recipients and more would have been adversely affected. 45 and Musk seemed not to care at all.
45 offered an alternative 116 page bill that ditched certain provisions. But what his bill did contain was raising the debt ceiling until January 2027. In essence they wanted a 4 Trillion dollar blank check. 45 also wanted a government shut down to be during Biden’s term, not during his term. Petty, Petty, Petty! Also Selfish, Selfish, Selfish! This bill failed in the House, 235 against and 174 for. 38 Republicans voted nay. This 116 page version did not pass. It contained cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Nutritional support for children. It also had big tax💸 breaks for the wealthy. A Heartless Felon!!
A new bill was worked out and the bill was signed at the last minute avoiding a government shutdown. The bill is called the American Relief Act, 2025, H.R. 10545. The bill received 100 signatures in the Senate and 366 Yays to 34 Nays in the House of Representatives. So, it appears that Musk may not have as much reach as he thought he did. He may primary those Republicans who did the right thing. But as a foreign born, non-elected person he should NOT have the pull that he thought he had. He should not have any pull or say in our government. Additionally the acts of President Musk and 45 would have been so disrespectful and a huge monetary grab by them even before they are in office. Throwing Biden’s last few weeks of Presidency into a shut down would have been a huge black eye and middle finger to the President. That is a colossally huge amount of nerve and hate. However this happened, I say that it ended very well for us Americans and that is why I sarcastically call this Opposite World! After January 20, 2025 they wont have to order Congress to do these things from without. They will do it quietly from within and we wont even know about it. RECLAIM!
