Crabs in a Bucket???
Hello Ploggers, how are you? Life is lifing right on. There is a countdown to spring in Northeast America. I see it on social media all the time. But yet and still we are in the throes of winter. One of my friends in Oregon told me that they are having⛈ ice storms. So the whole northern region of this country is in the deep ❄️freeze and many of us will survive it. Whoo Hoo!!
I have been thinking about Kamala Harris. First of all I have always liked her. She actually wears the “Rachel Green” 💇hairstyle. How cool is that!?! But more than that, she is an extremely accomplished woman of color. A Howard Graduate who is an🔰 AKA Soror. She has made history by being the first Black/Asian female Vice President of the United States. There is more that she has done, but that is not the main point of my Plog. The main point of my plog is that there are a suspiciously large number of black women who greatly dislike her. So I see black women who are hateful of another accomplished black woman. WTF is that? If any other demographic dislikes her I can handle that. They may have their own reasons. But the black woman hatred is disturbing to me another black woman. I did not see this dynamic with black women and Barack Obama. The male female dynamic was at play in that case and in a positive way. Are we just the proverbial 🐌Crabs in a Bucket? As soon as one makes it to the top, the others reach up and pull that one back down into the bucket with the rest. Then nobody gets out. An old adage that holds true in many scenarios.
Reasons I have heard for Kamal hate are the following:
She used to put a lot of black people away as Attorney General of California
That was her job. Wouldn’t you want a criminal who robbed you or your family to be put away?
She isn’t doing anything for black people
She is VP not P, that role is secondary unless you are LBJ or Dick Cheney. The President has done things that benefit black people. He gets credit, not her.
She is barely black
Her father is black and she has no control over her degree of blackness
Her husband is not black
Neither is the spouse of Neil D Grass Tyson, Clarence Thomas, Michael Jordan or Patrick Mahomes and you have no problem with them.
She is criticized for everything from her racial composition to her pedigree, I would say that she is hyper criticized. Many of the critiques are nothing more than plain old dislike, periodt. Part of this is due to the fact that women in general are super critical. Black women are super smart and accomplished and maybe because of that we are even more critical than the average Joe. But what ever happened to being proud of someone who looks like you, doing well and lauding that? That is the way I feel when I see this type of 🌟 unicorn. A black woman who is at the top of her field is definitely on my 💪 “She-hero” list. But the Kamala hate makes me see how Divide and Conquer is such a strong method of control. Do better and RECLAIM!
