Days Before the Election
Hey Ploggers how are you? I am writing this before the election. I am experiencing all the things including anxiety, and nervousness. I am playing out both possible outcomes in my💬 mind. I am trying not to look at the news. Some are saying that we will have a winner on Tuesday night. We will know who the leader of the free world will be. We will be out of our “uncertainty” misery. I have high hopes for the Presidential election. I feel positive that the country will vote to preserve our Democracy. The majority of Americans will see the danger that 45 poses to the majority of us. Let’s break it down.
The most influential voting block and 53% of Americans are😚 Women. In this particular election women are very motivated to vote to get back our Reproductive Rights. That is a huge motivation for women to vote, but it’s deeper than that. These women have to see beyond race, because our best hopes are on a Black, Asian woman. The stakes have to be stronger than American racism and sexism. She is smart, competent and quite frankly gets us. Our best hopes lie upon her. She is far from being the lesser of two evils.
There is also the Liz Cheney’s of the world. She has carved quite a niche as a former Republican who now despises 45 and what he has done to their party and to our country. Prior to that infamous escalator ride in New York, 45 said that he would run as a Republican because they are more gullible. He knew that he couldn’t run as a Democrat. Democrats are more discerning. Lyndsay Graham predicted that 45 would ruin their party and that it would be their own fault. He was so right. There are a sizeable amount of Never Trumpers out there who hate 45. He has shamed and turned off most decent Republicans and many of them will vote for Kamala Harris. They have a whole legitimate group who proudly will vote for Democracy, not party. They know that their party has been co-opted by a Fascist. It has changed and been stolen from them. The people on the right who realize this give me hope for a big Harris win.
Most recently I heard that Iowa polls show that Kamala is 4 points ahead of 45. Iowa is a solidly red state. Harris has not even campaigned in that state. Her campaign must have written it off as a loss and plodded on with the influential swing states. The most they have done is their commercials and ads everywhere. But many Iowans have tuned in, opened their eyes and said NO MORE! Descent people are saying no to 45 and his lunacy.
Quite honestly the biggest threat to a big Harris win is quite frankly White Complacency. Those white people who mistakenly think that they will be OK even with a Fascist in office are a definite threat. They may think that only the Black and Brown, LGBTQ, and Immigrants will have problems under a Fascist regime. But they are wrong. the Fascists are power hungry and will not stop until they have reached extremes we have never even thought of. I hope people can see that. We all have too much to lose to be casual about this election.
So as I distract myself with anything I can, I wait. I watch the clocks and I dream about a big win on Tuesday November 5, 2024. RECLAIM!
