Firing up that base

Hello Ploggers, how are you. I hope you are all doing well. I feel great to be getting through January without any major snow storms. It can be ❄️ blizzardy and bad in January in the Midwest. I noticed that when I get out of work it is not pitch dark anymore. The days are definitely getting longer and we are heading towards the Vernal 🌻 Equinox. Yay!!

I have noticed that certain politicians are starting to speak 📣 loudly about many issues. Ron DeSantis of Florida is talking the loudest right now. He is talking about Public Primary Education and American history. I hesitated to even Plog about it but then I thought what the heck. He is shooting his mouth off and so will I. The difference being, that I speak from a view point of cultural sensitivity where he is simply firing 🔥 up his base. DeSantis is probably gearing up to run for President in 2024. He knows what his base is about, on a National level and he is making them happy. Forget about the fact that he is alienating a large part of the American population. I guess he has decided who he needs please in order to win the White House.

He rejected College Board’s proposal to add an African American studies course to its Advanced Placement studies to be taught in Florida schools. He said that the course is “inexplicably contrary to Florida law and significantly lacks educational value”. He didn’t elaborate on the points but what he said requires some critique. The current list of Advanced Placement classes that are being taught in Florida includes the following: European History, Art History, Japanese Language History and Culture, German Language History and Culture, Italian Language History and Culture, Spanish Language and Culture. For Context, College Board is the non-profit agency that helps students to achieve success in college education. They are involved with SAT testing which is a requirement of most colleges. They help high school kids who want to go to college. Advanced Placement classes are those that high school student take in preparation for college. The purpose of these classes is to foster critical thinking. I remember since my daughter was in ⛪️ pre-school, the process of critical thinking was an educational goal.

Now, since enough Africans were involuntarily brought to this country to equal 13% of the current population, we are a part of the history of this country. You cant bring us here, use us for free labor for 200 years and then say that our history and story do not matter. Or say that our story has no educational value. To deny this while simultaneously allowing study of Germans, Italians and Japanese is inconsistent. It is also despicable! It is racist! It is is unfair! It is also unacceptable! My question is how is it contrary to Florida law? Is there a Florida law that says "no study of Black American history?" Thanks to DeSantis there is such a law. I am referring to an anti-woke law that he passed in 2022 which I plogged about on August 28, 2022. Here is an excerpt:

He actually introduced a law to stop WOKE activism. His woke acronym means the following: stop Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees. The Republican Legislature of Florida actually passed the bill 24-15 in April 2022. But more recently a Tallahassee US District Judge said that the Woke Act violates the First Amendment in the workplace.

If this is the law he is referring to, now we know why he pushed for it in the first place. He should be pressed for transparency on exactly what he means by “woke.”

This is absolutely despicable behavior. Ron DeSantis. God forbid he should ever be elected President. He is using Black American History as a wedge of manipulation. Many of us will see the ploy he is using, but many in his base will not. That is why I wrote this plog. This is a very important topic and should be talked about a lot, so that people will remember who Ron DeSantis is when it comes time to vote. RECLAIM!
