Hello Ploggers, how are you? I am hoping that you are all enjoying the season and all its joys. The🎄 holidays mean different things to different people. Just about everybody has some reaction to this season. Not everyone is Christian and obsessed with the monetary💰 abyss that can envelope the holiday. For most of my life I have been around people who partook of the Christmas traditions that involved Santa Clause and retail avarice. Once I got older, I met Jewish 🔯 people who were so chill at this time of the year. They had 8 gifts to buy for Chanukah and that was it. I knew of some Jehovah’s Witnesses who didn’t celebrate with gifts and cards. The beautician who did my daughters hair years ago was J W and told us that she did not expect gifts from us at Christmas time. She was sweet and let us ask any questions we had. The Pentecostal church that I was raised in did not observe typical Christmas. They felt that it was a Pagan holiday and they did nothing in acknowledgment of it. The same with Easter. I was 👀 puzzled by that as a child because they were a church that was very Christ loving. But they had their reasons. None of which made any sense to me. But as you live and learn you discover that people have different ideas about the December holidays.
As a person who just got back from Walmart, TJ Maxx and Walgreens on December 23 I am one who does the holidays in a traditional⛪️ Christian way. My house is decorated with a tree and tinsel and stockings. I love the magical feeing that Christmas brings. My teen age daughter is easy to buy for and I do so all year long. She will be quite happy on Christmas day as she always is. When she was little, I was able to re-live childhood on my own terms through her eyes. Fun stuff and a definite benefit of having a child.
Our collective uteri are still on the chopping block. People like Lyndsay Graham are still trying to control our bodies when it comes to reproduction. Whole political parties are willing to lose office when it comes to this issue. Feelings are really strong around the issue and no one is willing to budge even slightly. So don’t lose sight of your goals and never💪 give up. For many of us, work has slowed down and the weather has warmed up. I know that there are lots of things I could plog about other than the holiday season, but loss of reproductive rights is on my mind. Whatever intrigues and concerns me are the things I tend to write about. We have a long way to go to get our rights back. In the meantime be with your families, eat drink and be merry and most of all RECLAIM.
