Plog Number 2
June 26, 2022
Hello everyone. My name is Pam Pope and this is my second blog. I am passionate about the predicament that we are now in. I know there must be ways to get out of it. I am a hopeful person, especially when I feel that right is on my side.
Don’t take this the wrong way but I feel that at least part of this mess lies at beloved President Obama’s feet. He had the nerve to swagger in, be an articulate, intelligent and scandal free president and much of America couldn’t stand that. After his 8 successful years, a small window was left open for an unlikely interloper to gain power. While many of us were still drunk from Obama’s swag we never dreamed than a poorly educated, inexperienced bigot would win the presidency but we were wrong. He did win with shady methods and non-popular numbers. Ex President Jimmy Carter has stated publically that he probably didn’t win fairly but nevertheless “he won”. Oh and by the way I will never state his name. The most I will say is 45 or Chump. Names are powerful and you don’t give power to those who don’t deserve it.
So back to how did we get here. We were not diligent enough. We took for granted that Hillary would win because she is smart, experienced and that is just the way that one should have gone down. She would have never let the Supreme Court turn into the dust pit that it is. She never showed racism. She is highly intelligent. No matter what you think of her and her “emails” they are nothing compared to the things 45 did. The damage is lasting and so hurtful.
Also, many people could not believe that they had to be ruled by a “black” man, even if he was half white. I believe that this mobilized people to turn out for 45. It was a way to say “we are going in the complete opposite direction now”. We don’t care if we vote against our own interest. We don’t care if the person we are supporting would never look at much less speak to us if not after something. We don’t care that Obama gave us health care while 45 supported the rich. We don’t care if we live in Ohio (I do) and we need to now start worrying about the Southern border. All we care about is going polar opposite of that Black man who successfully led us for the last eight years. In other words our prejudice, bias, white superiority (or inferiority depending how you look at it) is far more important than worrying about our day to day lives and well-being. 45 played these people and used their biases in his favor. He played them like a fiddle while he looked down on them in disdain because they weren’t dressed nattily enough on January 6, 2021. So ironic and unbelievable. I think that the devil couldn’t have done a better job at usury and manipulation.
So that is how I believe we got here. The rest is history. But we are here now, and now we are going to rise up and fight our way back from this pit we are only temporarily in. Please join me in complaining, brain storming, politicizing etc. I believe that together we can make a change. Until next time.
