Plog Number 69
Immigration

Hello my fellow ploggers. How are you all? I am playing an endless game of fetch with my š± cat. She loves playing this game with colorful straws. I get tired of it but she never does. Looking around my freshly cleaned living room I wonder why I donāt do this more often through the work week "he he". If I were rich I would have the house and litter boxes cleaned daily.
On August 28th I plogged about the law that De Santis got passed in Florida against Wokeness (Wrongs against Our Kids and Employees). I hate to spotlight him again but he seems to be grabbing the national news cycle in negative ways and I must expose, expose, expose. Most of you probably already heard of his mistreatment of Venezuelan Immigrants. 50 immigrants were persuaded to be transported to Marthaās Vineyard, Massachusetts with the promise of jobs and prosperity. They were also told that they were going to Boston. Most of them had no idea that they were being used for a cheap, political stunt. Marthaās š Vineyard is a known wealthy šµvacationland in a state that is seen as liberal. There were no plans for these Immigrants to be housed, fed or employed in the area that they were taken to. It was all a š surprise! Shortly thereafter Texas Governor Gregg Abbott took credit for sending 75 to 100 migrants from Columbia, Cuba and Guyana to Vice President Kamala Harrisās home. These people were used, starved and had no idea what lay ahead for them. Many were children I saw a 6 month old baby. Despite it all many or the people seemed thankful to be getting out of their native countries as it is their right to do. Abbott has said that he will continue sending busloads š š daily to New York, Chicago and other āLiberalā cities until Joe does something about the Border crisis. I am guessing that they want something likeā¦a wall?!?
I was impressed by the way that the locals welcomed the unexpected guests. From what I saw, there were volunteers there with food and water. In Marthasā Vineyard they were taken by volunteers to a military base. Some were given legal assistance and other forms of aid. My 18 year old daughter said that āthey should have programs set up for them when they come hereā. She is a smart kid. I do not know much about Immigration or the laws thereof. It is a specialized area of the law in which I have never practiced. But, indeed they should have programs in place. Do they? My neighbor is an Immigration attorney and I plan to pick her brain.
The only positive thing I can think of that may come from these political stunts is greater awareness. I am plogging about the immigrants because my heart goes out to them. Being homeless, fleeing unsafe countries, (insert IRONY here), having a language barrier etc are all huge hurdles. There are accusations of human trafficking, kidnapping, misleading under false circumstances and abuse. As a former prosecutor, I have tried cases for kidnapping and I see the elements of the crime in the facts I have read. Women are particularly vulnerable as Immigrants. Sex trafficking is prevalent among Immigrants. We have to have humanity for others because it is the right thing to do and because Karma is a B*tch. RECLAIM
