Plog Number 148
Just Admit it, you Screwed up

Hello Ploggers, how are you all? Today is actually HumpšŖ Day and I consider that a big victory. Wednesday through Sunday afternoon are the best parts of the week, in my opinion. I feel happier when the weekend is inching closer. From Sunday night through Tuesday night the work week is pretty raw and real. We could call it Pre weekend from Wednesday through Sunday. And Post weekend from Sunday through Tuesday evening. I will work on that name.
When the title of this plog refers to āyouā, I mean the whole Conservative, Right Wing, Pro Life movement. I want to air some of what is on my mind these days about the dreaded Dobbs case. Since that case came down as the law of the land many things have happened just as they were predicted. Most of those predictions were dire for women, especially poor and marginalized women. The redder the state, the worse outcomes for women. Maternal mortality rates are up. Rape and incest are as consistent as ever. Unwanted pregnancies are as prevalent now as they were last year. Texas has not banished rape and incest as the Governor promised they would. If anything, rapes and incest seem more prevalent because of the forced births. I think that we hear about it more because of the pregnant 10 year olds and their public pain. Some of us are shocked by it. I feel that these things happen way more than we know. Secrecy and shame prevail!
And all this for what? So people like Lyndsay Graham, Clarence Thomas and the stealth missionaries can puff their chests out because they had a hand in forced š¼ births? Do you think that these forced newbornsš¶ are being heralded into warm, loving families? Do you think that women with mental illness are suddenly able to properly care for their children? Is the government or some generous private citizens reaching out to new, unprepared Moms, and offering them š¼ food, shelter and help with their babies. Have more social programs come about to support women and families? No.
How many women have died or suffered because they are unable to take lifesaving treatments because they are of childbearing age. How many pharmacist have taken control over womenās bodies by refusing to prescribe them needed š medications? Too many.
Let face it, the Dobbs decision was the result of a 50 year counter effort funded by white, male conservatives to take back the control that women had over their own bodies. The Supreme Court got stacked. The pendulum swung in just the right way. They would not listen to the doctors. They wouldnāt listen to women. They only wanted to win the battle. The suffering of women and children was incidental and non-consequential. Unacceptable!
I donāt know what it will take to reverse ā° this reversal. We in the US are lagging behind many countries in the area of Women's bodily autonomy. Even the United Nations has declared our country as an affront to human rights with the denial of abortion. As of October 2022 there are 66 countries that have legalized abortion on request. If this was a cruel experiment, it didnāt work. BIG FAIL! Lets move on, admit they were wrong. The consequences were not thought out and in less than a year it has been a total dumpster āØļø fire. RECLAM!
