Merrick Garland

Hello Fellow Ploggers, how are you. I am enjoying myself on a lazy weekend. One thing that makes me very happy and secure is the fact that due to the super smart electorate that we have in the country we 🎇 🎆 saved our Democracy…for now. The devious plot to install election deniers in key swing states as election officials failed miserably. That makes me feel great. Another thing that I am very happy about is that we were spared the massive ❄️ snowstorm that hit Buffalo, New York. They got close to 70 inches with more on the way YIKES!! God help them as they dig out.
I want to discuss Merrick Brian Garland. He is the 86th US Attorney General. He is 70 years old. He was born in Chicago to a Jewish mother (Shirley Horowitz) therefore he is Jewish as the faith is passed through the mother. He attended Harvard ⚖️law School where he was on Law Review and graduated Magna Cum Laude. So he has quite the Pedigree. I knew he was outstanding when Obama tried to appoint👍 him as a Supreme Court Justice. Garland has been put under considerable pressure ever since his appointment. That pressure is courtesy of the 45th President. He has provided Garland with numerous legal issues to deal with.
Garland did a great job when he investigated the Breonna Taylor murder. He discovered police corruption, false warrants and a targeted murder in her case. Numerous arrests were made and the judge involved did not win re-election this November. Without his investigation they might have gotten away with it and we would not know that she was a victim of calculated murder. I plogged about this earlier but it is worth mentioning again.
Garland has announced that he is shifting a large portion of the 45 investigation to a Special Investigator named Jack Smith. I have heard that Smith was a war crimes prosecutor at The Hague and that he is a Registered Independent. He is also a former federal prosecutor and comes highly touted by Garland. Those are high qualifications right there. But it is not this guy’s qualifications that concern me. I am concerned with the Garland’s🎤 announcement. He said that since 45 has announced his run for Presidency he feels that the matter would be better handled by a politically Independent person/agency. He said that the “run for presidency” was a deal breaker for him. So now we have to see what the special investigator does. I find the whole thing to be very disappointing. It’s like 45 was told that if he announced his candidacy he could skate. And special commissions are the place where investigations go to die.
Past Special Commissions have done very little other than investigate. There was the Kennedy Commission, The Watergate Commission, The Mueller Commission etc. No matter the high hopes of the commission, they always seem to fall short of any substantive changes. It seems as if the Commissions step in when the Attorney General is unable or unwilling to move on with criminal charges. Many people said that nothing would ever happen to 45 and it looks like they were right. The worst that may happen to him is he gets to live his ritzy 💎 life as a rejected politician.
Let’s see what Jack Smith does. Maybe he will surprise us and differentiate this investigation from the others mentioned above. RECLAIM!!
