Not Mature Enough…?

Hello Ploggers, Happy Labor Day weekend. It is sad to be heading into winter but fall is a nice buffer. And I don’t think we would appreciate the summer without enduring the four seasons. I can hear the Blue Angels practicing and flying overhead as I sit here. We usually take a picnic down to East 55th and watch from there. The forecast is stormy for tomorrow but we will play it by ear. I love the traditions.
I want to talk about a woman’s health issue today. Women of child bearing age are finding themselves trapped in childbearing these days. A moment of sex, either consensual or forced, places these women/girls into an 18 year difficult commitment. I chose this topic because it is a complicated issue. Most 16 year olds are healthy and can physically carry a pregnancy. It is the emotional part that I want to focus on. The girl I am speaking of lives in Florida and at the time of the article I read she was 10 weeks pregnant. She was appealing a lower court decision which denied her the right to have an abortion. They refer to her as Jane Doe 22B. She has no job, the father cant or wont help her and the court describes her as parentless. They used the fact that she needed the consent of her parents against her. If she is parentless she probably is involved in the Foster care system or a ward of the state. That is where the Court should have stepped in.
She was mature enough to go to court and ask for what she wanted. In fact she did this twice. How many people do you know that have appealed an egregious court decision at age 16? To me that shows some determination and maturity. She seems resolved in her decision to end her pregnancy and she is going about it in a legally sound way. This is maturity. The immature thing to do would be go blindly into parenthood picturing it to be all roses 🌈 joy and pure love. It is super unethical that this girl’s decision is being made for her. She should be the one to decide this. She will be the one buying diapers. She will be the one living in poverty with limited opportunities. She will be the one with a huge responsibility on her shoulders. She should decide. Maybe it is true that the powers that be, just want more white babies who will likely become poorly educated adults who are easily manipulated to vote against their own interest.
Lets talk about the judges. The lower court judge is Jennifer Frydrychowicz. She is a registered republican. The appeals court judges were Harvey Jay, Rachel Nordby and Scott Maker. Harvey Jay is a Rick Scott appointee. Nordby was appointed by Ron De Santis. Maker was appointed by Rick Scott. All the appellate court judges were appointed by Republican governors. These three said that the 16 year old did not meet the Clear and Convincing standard of law SMH. Clear and Convincing is a much lower standard than Beyond a Reasonable Doubt. The Clear and Convincing standard means that the evidence is highly and substantially more likely to be true than untrue. This girl undoubtedly met that standard. I just want anyone who reads this plog to know that these 4 judges ignored the evidence and voted according to their personal republican and pro-life views. That is wrong. That is not what they are on the bench to do. Look at what these judges are doing critically ⚖️ . When you get a chance to vote on their continued service on the bench know how they voted. If they don’t serve you and your beliefs VOTE THEM OUT. I will be providing a running database of judges and how they vote on women’s reproductive rights, more info on that later. Judges should be scrutinized now more than ever. These judges do not have lifetime tenure. Their terms will be coming to an end at some point. But before you go into any voting booth, you should know how judges vote on issues and it is public record.
You have to ask yourself the obvious question. If one is too immature to decide when to become a parent, is one mature enough to have a child? I keep hearing on TikTok to the tune of Row Row Row your boat 🎼 changed to Roe Roe Roe your Vote 🎼 . Sounds like another way to RECLAIM!
