Ohio and Reproductive Rights
Hello Ploggers, how are you. Happy Autumn! I hope you are enjoying the harvest 🌽 🥕season and this time in your life. I try to enjoy each moment of my life. Sometimes I step back and enjoy and appreciate the small things. That gratitude and appreciation is 💜 good for my soul. I just did a Tik Tok video about Ohio’s current stance in the fight for Reproductive Rights. Between now and the election, I will be reminding people of this present and corrupt Supreme Court with its lying pro life Justices taking away our rights. How many women have died because of this poorly made medical decision? A medical decision made without the benefit of medical providers. SMH. I think we are in a good💪 place to right this wrong. We have been successful in our petition to get Reproductive Rights on the ballot. We have voted 👎down Issue 1 at Special Election in August to stop the Republicans from changing the threshold from 50 to 60% for any Constitutional Amendments. Most importantly, the majority of Ohioans are in favor of Reproductive Rights. Despite the state being red, most of want this.
In June of 2022 when Roe v. Wade was reversed, Ohio had a trigger law which made abortion illegal after just 6 weeks. But in October of 2022 Judge Christian Jenkins of Hamilton County decided case law which holds that Ohioans have 21 weeks and 6 days to have a legal abortion. So currently abortion is legal for 21 weeks and 6 days in the state of Ohio. That is way more time than our Republican legislature wanted us to have. We have a good chance of getting Reproductive Rights passed in our state. If Issue 1 passes the decision of abortion will be decided by women and their families and their doctors. No one will be forced to do anything by passing this law. If Issue1 passes the issue will not be decided by politicians. To me that is the biggest goal and deterrent. Lyndsay Graham should🚫 not be deciding what any woman does with her body.
So beware of the signage. Some are saying Vote YES on Issue 1, Preserve reproductive rights. Other 📜 signs say Vote No on Issue 1 Save Parental rights. No parental rights are being dismantled by the law. That language is misleading and false. Please don’t fall for it. No one is forced to do anything by the passage or non-passage of the law. Keep your eyes 👀 open and vote for more not less human rights. RECLAIM!
