Ohio's drug problem

Plog Number 100

Ohio's drug problem

Hello again Ploggers. This is my 100th Plog. I am so 💓 proud of this and so thankful for all those who read it. Rather you read it faithfully or sporadically I appreciate you! The format is the same. I try to keep them to a 6 minute read. The purpose is for Women’s Reproductive Rights. But sometimes I take license and write about whatever is on my mind. I write about Politics, Race Relations, Family History, Current trends etc. Basically nothing is off limits to me for a Plog.

Many Ohioans have died from Opiate abuse. In 2017 there were 4854 Unintentional Opioid related deaths in Ohio. 523 of these deaths were related to Prescription 💊 Opioid Overdoses. JD Vance started Our Ohio Renewal a day after the 2016 election. He touted it as a way to combat the Opioid addiction in Ohio. He closed it as soon as he got the Republican nomination for Ohio Senate. That was May 2022. He hired Dr. Sally Satel, Psychiatrist for a year long residency in Appalachia who parroted Purdue Pharmaceutical talking points. She wrote articles downplaying the dangers of OxyContin. She was the center of a Pro Publica investigation for the role she played in Purdue Pharma’s PR campaign to downplay the risks of OxyContin so they could continue to profit off Americans struggling with addiction. She was sent to Ohio by JD Vance. Her appointment and link to big Pharma were seen as a betrayal by many. The propaganda was so widespread, that pain was added as the 5th Vital sign in major hospital systems. Vance stated that he didn’t know of Satel’s connection to Purdue. If that is true, he was negligent when hiring her.

There are two billionaires who funded JD Vance, Donald Trump and Peter Theil. They flooded Ohio with commercials and rhetoric that promoted JD Vance. Thank you very much! ☹️

As early as 2007, there have been lawsuits against Purdue from Appalachian leaders. October 21, 2022 Purdue Pharma and US Dept of Justice have reached a deal to resolve multiyear civil and criminal investigations into the pharmaceutical company’s marketing practices related to its opioid medications. The Sackler family, Purdue Pharma owners agreed to pay over $ 6 💸 Billion in Criminal fines, criminal forfeiture and Civil settlement in damages to resolve its civil liability. The damage has already been done and many people are gone.

So we now have this US Senator who supported and employed a person who was a mouthpiece for the use of Oxycontin. He has said that he didn't know about her ties to Purdue. Did he read her resume? Did he ask her who she worked for prior to hiring her? Does he care that he vicariously added to the deaths of many Ohions? Or does he just want us to forget about he whole thing and let him go to the senate? Never Forget RECLAIM!!
