Sarah Palin

Hello Ploggers, How are you all. This has been a rough week, but so far we are all surviving it and many of us are looking forward to a 3 day weekend. I will bask in every minute of this weekend. Between the Air Show, The Geauga Fair and a day with my girl it will be great!

I want to talk a little about Sarah Palin. She came on the scene with poor John McCain and was known as a “Maverick”. The only thing I liked about her was her glasses 👓 . I now wear the rimless look because I don’t like anything resting on my face in these mask wearing 😷 days. But back to Palin, she just recently lost a State special election in Alaska. Alaska has one Federal Congressional seat and it now belongs to a Democratic, Alaskan woman. Palin has gone from being the Governor to losing a House Member race. The special election was because of the previous Republican Don Young’s untimely death. Young held the seat for 49 years. The winner Mary Peltola is Yup’ik and a native Alaskan 👍🏻 . She is Pro Choice and has been a State House member from 1999-2009. I hope to learn more about her in the future, but so far I feel very in sync with her.

Palin had a fall from serious politics at some point. She was widely mocked for saying she could see Russia from her house by the SNL crew. She was taken less and less seriously as time went on. I even remember when she was found to be too “looney” to stand with 45. He overlooked her for any positions of importance in his administration, yet she still supported him enthusiastically. I have heard that she has been tagged as a victim of minor scandals, tabloid family drama, and a losing bid for Vice Presidency. She seems to be less than qualified for high political office on an intellectual basis. Sadly, a lot of people liked her because she was “attractive”. That is a dangerous way to exist politically. She was endorsed in this recent race by 45 but still she lost.

Comparing Alaska to Kansas, they are both Red states. They both have had Republican rule for a long time. From my corner of the world, Alaskans seem very quiet and content in their lives. I never hear of any uprisings from that state. But something happened in these sleepy, Republican states. I have a feeling that Palin lost, because she is openly Pro Life. Alaskans are aware of the fall of Roe v Wade. Plus they knew of Palin by history as their recent Governor. Their feelings about reproductive rights may be as strong as ours. The ratio of men to women is 108 men for every 100 women. So women are in the minority. The racial composition is majority white. I was surprised to learn that the Pacific Islander population is less than 1%. I would have to see the stats on who voted most in that election, but it looks like white males are the majority. I am trying to draw a conclusion but am not sure about what happened in Alaska but I think the people are using their voice and trying to RECLAIM their power and knew they wouldn’t be able to do that with Pro Life Palin. Very interesting indeed. RECLAIM!
