Super Bowl Halftime Show

Hello Ploggers, how are you? Today is the Monday after the Super🏈 Bowl. Many people supposedly call off today. I have never and will never, but that is just me. I am not particularly into professional sports in the way that most Americans are. Back in the day when I attended Super Bowl parties, I remember being more interested in the🍗 snacks, lively conversations and the human interactions. Imagine that, preferring people over watching millionaire ball throwers run around on a big field on TV. But the halftime show is a little different…lets get into it.
Last night’s Super Bowl show was superbly different. It was surely not for everyone. If you were looking for everyday entertainment and a lighthearted lift, it was not for you. If you did not know the history of the “beef” between Kendrick Lamar and Drake it was not for you. If you did not appreciate black symbolism it was not for you. If you did not know and appreciate that Kendrick Lamar has 20🏆 Grammys and a Pulitzer🏆 Prize it was probably not for you. But don’t feel bad. I wouldn’t have known as much about it if I didn’t have a 20 year old. There were some references that were for the older among us. There was a beautiful intro to a beloved Luther VanDross song which made my heart❤️ sing and I needed no explanation of that. They quoted Gil Scott Heron’s “The Revolution will not be Televised” That was an oldie from the 60’s. The show included lots of sharp choreographed dancers. The dancers were all dressed in full clothing. No butt cheeks were on display. So if you were longing to see any of that, the show was not for you. Samuel L Jackson made appearances as “Uncle Sam”. He is an unflinchingly💪 strong black representative. Kendrick Lamar is a "Dope" Storyteller
Kendrick Lamar is a 20 time Grammy Award👏 winner. He also has a Pulitzer Prize. He is very established and vetted. I think he shows passion as well as popularity among fans. I personally just liked that he represents the black aesthetic without shame and with pride and truthfulness. No waffling back and forth. No sell out like Snoop Dogg and Nelly. He is openly petty about his beefs👎…and so am👍 I. I cant help but love that. Let this young man tell his story and open👀 minds at the same time. RECLAIM!
