Hello Ploggers how are you. We have had a sudden drop in the temperature. Officially it is not even š fall yet but we have gone from 80ās to 50ās overnight. I have been turning on the heat in the car and wearing sweaters and generally feeling the chill in the air. I hope that āļøwinter comes in gradually this year and we actually have time to ease into it. I am prepping my generator because I can not with the power outages.
I want to write about Governor Mike De Wine. He was recently here in Ohio talking about different things. There have been some safety issues with local school š bus drivers and I thought he was mostly going to talk about that. The big agenda seemed to concern schools and the lack of safety of our kids when they are there. Many school districts have spoken up about the issue of arming teachers. The Parma District has allowed certain staff members to be armed. This despite many Police and Teachers vehemently opposing the idea. The City of Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb and the then CMSD CEO Eric Gordon have vowed to ban the use of weapons in the schools, including by the teachers.
As you can see, different districts are doing different things. One of the things that De Wine did was sign legislation to reduce required gun training hours for teachers from 700 to 24š©. He did that in 2022. He is all in favor of the teachers being armed. From what I have heard, only a few teachers from Parma have volunteered for the training. I have to wonder about the person who volunteers for this. Arenāt teachers busy enough with teaching, prepping for state tests, disciplinary issues, buying supplies on top of educating our young? Arenāt law š®āāļø enforcement officers trained for hundreds of hours and still sometimes shoot the wrong š« persons? Would anyone regulate the safety of these weapons or could they just be purchased anywhere? How would the guns be šsecured within the school? How would the knowledge of the presence of the weapons affect the š„ psyche of the kids? I have many questions š.
I personally agree with the law enforcement experts who disagree with training teachers to carry weapons. The whole notion of adding more guns to solve a gun problem is ridiculous. How about some common sense gun laws and putting less guns in the hands of the public? For Godās sake De Wine, get your loyalties straight. The lives of kids is way more important than the gun lobby and their grades. I hope he reads this because he claims to be Christian and to loveš¼ children. I donāt know how he reckons his love of life with a tolerance for the NRA, special interests and guns everywhereš. RECLAIM!
