The Train Wreck
Hello Ploggers, how are you all. As I see things, we are in really scary political times. I think we can all agree to that. Some things that I see, I can take in stride or with a big grain of salt. Other things I cannot stay silent about. This past week was busy for me so I didn’t see a lot of the national news but what I did see was disheartening to say the least. But disheartening or not I feel a need to watch the news. I engage more or less depending on how ratchet the stories actually are. Yes I said ratchet and I will be looking for other appropriate words to describe my strong feelings on the topics. So here goes.
First and foremost on my mind is the Norfolk Southern train🚃 derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. I live in Northeast, Ohio and I fear that the whole thing may have catastrophic future consequences. Consequences that we cannot even conceive of at this point. I have a healthy and warranted mistrust for the slow reacting EPA, Governor DeWine, and the railroad itself, Norfolk and Southern. I had heard that Norfolk and Southern is a large 💰bdonor to Governor DeWine. That is dismaying right there. The news that Republican Governor DeWine declined 👎help offered to him by Democratic President Biden and later lied about it. Then I heard that Democratic Governor Shapiro of Pennsylvania requested and got the help of the federal government. The incident was near the border of Ohio and Pennsylvania. I learned from Chernobyl that the air and weather travels 💨 west to eastward. So that Governor had every right to request the help that he did. The politics of the situation are already ugly. Not to mention they buried the debris in the ground from the derailment. That can easily affect the earth, water and air of surrounding areas.
As if the situation wasn’t alarming enough, then I saw that President 45 went to East Palestine, Ohio and was greeted as a hero. He spoke and denied fault and later took some of them to 🍔McDonalds for lunch. The people in the town seemed to 💓LOVE his presence and attention. My head almost blew off when I saw their reaction. I was completely flummoxed but I kept moving on. To my further dismay, I saw the grand jury chairwoman from Georgia on a media tour. She was involved in the Fani T Willlis Fulton County District attorney, hearings deciding on bringing charges against 45, Lyndsay Graham, Rudy Guiliani and others for election fraud they engaged in after the 2020 election. Her demeanor was totally giddy. She spoke about how smart Graham seemed and what a thrill it was to meet Guiliani. She wished she had been able to meet 45. I thought that her interviews were like a super fan girl to these people who are likely to be charged. I felt that her interviews, demeanor and entire presence was disrespectful to Fani Willis and the entire process.
To top it all off with a 🍒 cherry, I saw that Erin Brockavic went to East Palestine too. I am sure there were residents who were surprised that she didn’t look like Julia Roberts. I wonder if any of them have ever read 📖 or seen "The Firm" by John Grisham. The whole love for 45 even after he has shown himself to be a total liar is unbelievable to me. It was cuts done by the 45 administration that added to the probability of an accident like this. A 2 mile long train was being operated by 2 men after safety cuts took place in2017. I wonder how many other industries are understaffed and unsafe at this point and are just ripe for an epic accident??? It is a wake up call that there are many people in this country who would happily cast a vote for 45 in 2024. Never under or over estimate the intelligence of people. We have to remain united, diligent, on fire and in full support of our winning Presidential candidate Smoking Joe Biden RECLAIM!
