Plog Number 176
Senator Tim Scott (R) South Carolina

Hello Ploggers how are you. I am hoping that you are knee deep in 🌞sunshine, 🌺flowers and good vibes. It is officially Spring time in most of the country. I remember the year I had my daughter, I noticed that Spring was a huge awakening of flowers, leaves and tree blossoms. Ditto for this year, at least in my view. The truth is, that I probably take notice of my surroundings differently. I am grateful to see things as awesome this year.
I couldn’t help but notice that Tim Scott announced his run for Presidency. So far the Republicans have 45, Nikky Hailey, De Santis, Vivek Ramaswamy and Asa Hutchinson. Possibly Mike Pence, John Bolton, Liz Cheney, Glenn Younkin, Kristi Noem, Chris Christie and Chris Sununu will also run. They will have a lot of people vying for the job. It will be a crowded contest for sure.
But I cant help but think about Tim Scott and some of the things I have heard him say. It was after Biden's first joint address to Congress. Scott was delivering the Republican response. He stood up and said “Let me be clear, America is not a racist country” and then he went on with his speech. I honestly can not tell you what he said in his speech because he totally lost me after the big intro. My ability to tolerate him left me after he said what he said. I see him as a big, black reality denying man. He is a younger version of Clarence Thomas. When you are a Southern raised black man, in America, you have experienced some racism. Being fortunate enough to be able to pull yourself up by your Bootstraps is a statistical anomaly. Given the lack of generational wealth, red-lining, and institutional racism it is still a very uneven playing field. There is continued pay 💸disparity despite advanced education. When you are continually very educated and hard working and still denied lucrative jobs, there is no bootstrap for you to grab onto.
I wonder if Scott feels that as a black man, he can mirror the success of Barack Hussein Obama? The two men have very little in common. If Scott is thinking that he can win over the majority of American voters, he is delusional. A black Republican has the appeal of a 💩 fart in an elevator. While it is true that many black Americans are conservative, they are also realists. We do not have the luxury to vote against our interest. Thanks but no thanks Tim and RECLAIM!
